HACKERS TARGET WORD USERS

It has recently been discovered that a new "zero day vulnerability" has currently been attacking Microsoft word users.

Security researches further stated that the attack was lunched in the wild with a patch yet to be issued for this particular software threat where experts believe would allows attackers to secretly infect system with different kind of malware.

The zero day bug was made known by McAfee and FireEye, who claimed they apprised Microsoft of the impending threat. Though Microsoft is making plans to release a patch that will coincide with patch Tuesday.

The bug is triggered when user opens a trick word document in HTML format which downloads the malicious file.

Researchers said, "The Microsoft HTA application loads and executes the malicious script. In both observed documents the malicious script terminated the winword.exe process, downloaded additional payload(s), and loaded a decoy document for the user to see. The original winword.exe process is terminated in order to hide a user prompt generated by the OLE2link."
